I love faces and drawing faces. I remember the teacher’s cursive writing samples for the letter O, elegant tilted ovals on the chalkboard, reminding me of a row of beautiful faces.

This portfolio contains commissioned portraits, self portraits, paintings of my own children, and many are works of pure imagination.

I have been painting self portraits from the mirror since I was a kid and I have long been fascinated by the self portraits of famous artists. I tell my students that a self-portrait is a great way to practice and the model is always available! Over the years these paintings serve as journal entries and markers of the passage of time.
